Abstract

Abstract: The pH and temperature dual-responsive nanocarriers were fabricated from 2-mercaptobenzimidazole modified mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN-BM) and poly( N -isopropylacrylamide) star polymer based on β-cyclodextrin core（β-CD-(PNIPAM)7 ）coated as nanovalve by host-guest recognition. Nanoparticles show a well-ordered mesoporous structure with the pore diameter of 2–3 nm and size was about 100–150 nm. Doxorubicin (DOX) was effectively encapsulated in MSNs with the drug-loading content and entrapment efficiency up to 40.51 and 85.11%, respectively. The opening of the pores could be switched on and off by the stimulating factors, such as acid and temperature as desired. The higher the concentration of acid, the more of DOX was released from nanoparticles. Furthermore, the release of DOX from composite nanoparticles was enhanced with the temperature increased from 25 to 42 °C. Graphical Abstract:
