- Abstract : Silicon analogues of ketones have remained elusive for more than 100 years. In their Communication on page 9425 ff., T. Iwamoto and co‐workers report the first synthesis of an isolable silicon analogue of a ketone that exhibits a three‐coordinate silicon center and an unperturbed Si=O bond. This genuine silanone does not require coordination of Lewis bases and acids or the introduction of electron‐donating groups to stabilize the Si=O bond.
