- Abstract: The ongoing demand for non-deterministic investigations of increasingly complex systems using possibility theory, and the closely connected fuzzy set theory, has led to the development of new numerical solution schemes. In this contribution, we present a sequential weighted sampling technique for the numerical solution of Zadeh's extension principle which shows many advantages over conventional solution schemes in terms of flexibility and efficiency. The introduced solution strategy is applied to several test examples, among others from the field of structural mechanics, and its performance is compared with that of conventional sampling techniques.
