- Abstract: The different characteristics of saturated solutions of Xe and Xe existing as ultra-fine bubble water (Xe-UFB) were observed using X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) analysis. The dissolved concentration of the 2 atm Xe-saturated solution was measured accurately by changing the XAFS measurement spectrum. For Xe-UFB, the time change of the dissolved Xe concentration at the time of exposure to the atmosphere was obtained. Additionally, the calculation was obtained for the saturated solution. Based on the storage condition of Xe-UFB, it was found that the concentration of Xe in the aqueous solution before exposure to the atmosphere differed after 1 day compared to its half-life, even in a closed refrigerated storage condition. Xe-UFB tends to increase immediately after generation but tends to decrease after one day, based on the mode particle size of bubble concentration and change in concentration. Highlights: Practical applications for micro- and nano-scale bubbles. X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) analysis to measure characteristics of microbubbles. Correlation between gas and dissolved states for Xe and Xe-UFB. Accurately measuring amount of Xe dissolved in water by measuring Xe-UFB and Xe-saturated water using XAFS.
