- Abstract: According to the analysis of the damage morphology of the failure insert in the heavy-duty milling process of the water chamber head, fatigue damage is one of the main failure forms of the insert. Fatigue is the evolution process of inserts damage and impact fracture is the ultimate failure forms of inserts fatigue damage. According to the frequency that the insert cuts into and out workpiece, it is determined that insert is subjected to the low cycle load characteristic. Based on damage mechanics, the low cycle fatigue damage model is studied, and the fatigue evolution process of the insert material is numerically described. The damage parameters of cemented carbide material in the model are determined by simulation method. Fatigue simulation is carried out to determine the fatigue damage limit of the insert under cyclic loading, which provides theoretical basis and data foundation for the qualitative and quantitative research on the damage failure process of insert.
