- Abstract : Trip mode choice, one of the stages of the four-step travel process, is influenced by individual and family attributes, such as economic, social and cultural characteristics. The purpose of this study is to assess students' trip behaviour with respect to mode choice in favourable and unfavourable weather conditions. For this purpose, the data of 380 trips to and from the University of Tabriz, obtained by way of questionnaires, were used, and a binary logit model was employed for the purpose of modelling. All variables related to socio-economic characteristics and distance showed significance at 95% confidence level. The results show that the average probabilities of bus, taxi and personal car choices are 80, 12 and 8% in favourable weather as well as 64, 24 and 12% in unfavourable weather conditions, respectively. In unfavourable weather, the use of taxi and personal car increased by 12 and 4%, respectively, but the demand for bus decreased by 16%.
