- Highlights: A facile assembly method was developed to obtain PPy/lysozyme functional hybrid. Lysozyme layer has little impact on the hybrid conductivity of ca. 2.23 S/m. Lysozyme significantly contributes to the integration of the PPy nanoparticles. Abstract: An assembly approach to modify polypyrrole (PPy) with oxidant and lysozyme to prepare polypyrrole@lysozyme (PPy@LZM) biomass hybrid and free-standing film is reported. The optimal parameters for preparing PPy film with best conductivity were investigated primarily. The highest conductivity of ca. 6.13 S/m can be obtained with the 30 mmol/L (9 mL) of ammonium persulfate as oxidant, and polymerization with 65 μL pyrrole for 12 h. And then, a series of PPy@LZM were prepared with stable conductivity. The bulk structure, morphology, thermal properties and adhesion were investigated further. It is found that the LZM may increase the thermal properties and adhesion of the PPy film with little influence on the chemical structure and conductivity. Moreover, the PPy@LZM hybrid present the optimum performance, such as the conductivity of ca. 2.23 S/m, thermal resistance of ca. 180 °C, and significant adhesion to plastic with the lysozyme content of 0.45 mL and polymerization time of 18 h.
