- Abstract: d -allose is one kind of rare sugar and its biological functions and metabolic pathways in several organisms have been reported, but its function in plants' resistance has not been well understood. In this research, we analyzed the function of d -allose in plant immunity in tomato. The plants which were pretreated with 5 mM d -allose increased the resistance to Botrytis cinerea and Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato ( Pst ) DC3000 compared with the plants treated with water, with lighter symptom. The d -allose treatment induced the resistance to B. cinerea and Pst DC3000 maybe through regulating reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation and the expression levels of defense-related genes. Highlights: We determined the optimal concentration and time for d -allose treatment in tomato. The d -allose treatment have function on the resistance to B. cinerea and Pst DC3000. It was the first time to report d -allose's function on the resistance against pathogens in tomato. The d -allose regulate the resistance in tomato maybe through regulating ROS accumulation and defense-related gene expression. We explain the reason from molecular level.
