Abstract

Abstract : This article describes an online laboratory for computational text analysis of Galileo's correspondence, published works, and materials in his library. This Digital Humanities project incorporates newly designed tools informed by research priorities of early modern scholars as well as the literary and scientific practices of the period. As a result, GaLiLeO: Galileo's Library and Letters Online offers a way to understand the contributions of Italian Studies to the shaping of Digital Humanities methods and areas of inquiry with particular emphasis on database design and that analysis of incomplete data.
