- Abstract: Yearly, approximately 750 million tons of rice husks is cultivated which generates about 160 million tons of rice husk that are eventually dumped on the environment as a waste to cover a large area of landfill and causes environmental pollution problems as well. The utilization of rice husk in concrete brings a great benefit in addressing both environmental and economic issues. During the combustion process, the lignin and cellulose content of rice husk is removed and a high amount of silica content is left at the end of the process. Ultrahigh-performance concrete (UHPC) which is one of the latest developments in the field of concrete technology contains about 900 kg/m 3 up to 1000 kg/m 3 of cement. However, cement production industry is responsible for about 7% of CO2 emission generated with enormous effect on the environmental appearances apart from high cost. This study makes a comprehensive review on using rice husk ash as a supplement to cementitious materials on the performance of UHPC.
