- Highlights: NOACs gradually replaced VKA use for VTE treatment. Rivaroxaban and apixaban were the most prescribed drugs among the NOACs. Recurrent VTE and intracranial bleeding were lower in the NOAC than VKA group. NOACs showed a favorable benefit-risk offering an alternative to VKAs.
