- Abstract: For the purpose of generating warm white light, Ca3 TeO6 :Dy 3+, Ca3 TeO6 :Sm 3+ and Ca3 TeO6 :Dy 3+ /Sm 3+ fluorescent powders were manufactured through solid phase sintering process. The phase, luminescent characteristics and energy transfer process were researched. XRD patterns of Sm 3+ /Dy 3+ doped fluorescent powders demonstrate that they have the same phase with pure Ca3 TeO6 . Dy 3+ or Sm 3+ solely doped Ca3 TeO6 fluorescent powders exhibit emission bands corresponding to transitions of Dy 3+ or Sm 3+ . Dy 3+ /Sm 3+ codoped Ca3 TeO6 fluorescent powders exhibit emission bands originating from Dy 3+ and Sm 3+ . Due to energy transfer of Dy 3+ → Sm 3+ in Ca3 TeO6 :Dy 3+ /Sm 3+ fluorescent powder, adjustable luminescence was generated. Moreover, this energy transfer leads to the generation of warm white light in Sm 3+ codoped Ca3 TeO6 :Dy 3+ fluorescent powders. The results of the current work demonstrate that these fluorescent powders can be applied to warm white LEDs.
