- Abstract: Use of biologic adjuvants such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) and other cell-derived therapies is becoming increasingly popular in trauma and orthopaedic surgery. Extensive research effort has been made in regarding biologic augmentation in order to manage tendon pathology, non-union and degenerative joint disease. We look at the various biologics gaining importance in musculoskeletal conditions and discuss the evidence base behind them. In our review article, we have defined the various biological adjuvants, their current clinical use and evaluated the evidence for treating various clinical conditions.
