- Abstract: In this work, the CBN inserts (tool) are used in high speed turning of commercial pure (CP) titanium of grade-2. The surface integrity elements such as the variation in microhardness with respect to the depth beneath the machined surface, atomic force microscopy, 2D and 3D topographical profile and morphological aspects through SEM images has been carried out during the turning operation. The results show the smooth turning operation free from any type of cutting traces. The variation in microhardness (160 HV maximum at 80 µm) of the machined surface is significantly affected by the heat affected zone.
