- Abstract: The natural wax separated from the agro-waste resource is a feasible and sustainable biolubricant. Investigation on the lubrication behaviors of this new renewable lubricant is attractive. In this work, a multilayer graphene was introduced into a wax obtained from the non-medicinal part of Codonopsis pilosula for the purpose of the lubricity improvement. A reciprocating ball-on-disc configuration and AISI 52100 self-mated sliding-pairs were selected for tribological evaluation. The results indicated that the addition of multilayer graphene improves the load-carrying capacity and high temperature lubricity of the natural wax. Highlights: A biolubricant from non-medicinal part of Codonopsis pilosula is modified with graphene. This lubricant is functional at a high load of 300 N and a temperature of 250 °C. Graphene improves the bearing ability and high temperature lubricity of the biolubricant.
