Abstract

Abstract : Electron energy loss measurements can probe a wide variety of excitations locally over a huge energy range. In article number 2000277, Tommi Isoniemi, Francesco de Angelis and co‐workers characterize hyperbolic metamaterial nanostructures with electron spectroscopy, unveiling plasmonic resonances with their nature confirmed by simulations. Such pillar structures provide independently tunable optical scattering and absorption, and highly confined waveguiding is possible in milled multilayer cavities. (Image credit: D.
