- Highlights: A current sensorless mechanism is devised using the concept of DC transformer Model. Non-idealities are included in modeling the dc-dc converter. The variation of temperature on load resistance is made part of control mechanism. Selection of weighting factors is explained through intensive heat maps. MPPT mechanism is modified for better performance. Abstract: The suggested paper presents a method for calculating the current of photovoltaic (PV) module without using any current sensor based on the notion of DC transformer model. Restrictive control set model predictive control (RCS-MPC) is proposed to track the reference current provided by the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm. The MPC algorithm proposes non-ideal modeling of the boost converter based PV system to improve the likelihood of right input choice by the MPC algorithm at any operating temperature. From the proposed technique, the likelihood of correct input decision by the MPC algorithm at any temperature of the converter is increased and the computational burden on the controller is reduced. The analysis of computational time complexity is also carried out to analyze the computational burden on the processor. The proposed method is validated through MATLAB/ Simulink simulations and it is also experimentally checked.
