- Abstract : Nanostructured (∼50 nm) Pd‐Au‐Si based metallic glass films (NMGF) on Si/SiO2 have been synthesized as an efficient hydrogen sorber. A significant number of nanovoids originated from PdH x crystals, and an increase in average interatomic spacing is detected in Pd‐Au‐Si NMGF by high‐resolution TEM linked to the unique density fluctuations. This production and characterization methodology allows for the development of metallic glasses with maximum hydrogen uptake via controllable nanovoid formation.
