- Abstract: Uncooled Nb5 N6 array detector has been designed and fabricated for 0.65 terahertz (THz) detection. The length and width of the optimized bow tie antenna in the periodic structure of 150 × 150 μm 2 are 130 and 50 μm by using CST MICROWAVE STUDIO. The electric field intensity at the center point of the bow tie antenna is about 550‐factor enhancement at 0.647 THz. Furthermore, the periodic structure of the substrate is continuously optimized when the dimensions of the bow tie antenna are kept constant. It is found that the electric field intensity increases with the increase of periodic sizes. Compared with the periodic size of 150 × 150 μm 2, the optimized periodic size is 200 × 230 μm 2 and the electric field intensity is increased by three times. The experimental results show that the measured optical voltage responsivity of the Nb5 N6 array detector with the periodic structure of 200 × 230 μm 2 is about three times than that of the Nb5 N6 array detector with the periodic structure of 150 × 150 μm 2, which is basically consistent with the simulation results.
