Abstract

Abstract : A 2, 6‐anthrylene‐linked bis( m ‐terphenylcarboxylic acid) strand self‐associates into a one‐handed homo double helix induced by chiral amines with accompanying stacking of the two prochiral anthracene linker units in an enantiotopic face‐selective way. In their Research Article on page 7478, E. Yashima et al. report that the photoirradiation of the double helix proceeds in a diastereo‐ and enantiodifferentiating way to afford the chiral anti ‐photodimer with up to 98 % enantiomeric excess.
