- Abstract: In this paper, oleic acid coated Fe3 O4, Fe0.8 Mn0.2 Fe2 O4 and Fe0.8 Ni0.2 Fe2 O4 nanoparticles have been synthesized by co-precipitation technique for the preparation of ferrofluids and were characterized for their structural information using XRD technique. The nanoparticles were then dispersed in kerosene to get the Fe-Mn and Fe-Ni ferrofluid. The effect of Mn and Ni substitution on Fe3 O4 was established. FTIR spectroscopy was used to investigate the presence of Fe-O bonding and other chemical substance adsorbed on the surface of the particles. Magnetic measurements were done using VSM and EPR spectroscopy technique at room temperature.
