- Abstract : A single electron forms a nanometric quantum bubble in superfluid helium‐4 and can strongly interact with mid‐infrared photons, as shown by Dafei Jin and co‐workers in article number 2000008 . Real‐time density functional simulation shows that an ultrafast laser pulse can bring the electron into quantum superpositions between the ground and excited states. The electron wavefunction can deform into a peanut shape or split into two fractions, displaying remarkable nonequilibrium quantum dynamics.
