Abstract

Summary: It is crucial for safe and stable operation of power systems that grasping systems' transient stability scenarios quickly and accurately. In this paper, the second‐order nonuniform Kuramoto model frequency synchronization theory was introduced for analyzing power system transient stability. The correspondence between the classic power system model and second‐order nonuniform Kuramoto model is established, and then, a transient stability criterion and a transient stability analysis approach based on second‐order nonuniform Kuramoto model are proposed. Different from traditional direct methods, our method organically relates topological structure connection strength and states of a power grid with the region of attraction of the system's stable equilibrium point. Therefore, we can fast determine the transient stability situation of a disturbed system by means of calculating its relevant network parameters.
