Abstract

Abstract : 'Georgia‐18RU' (Reg. no. CV‐140, PI 690012) is a high‐yielding, normal‐oleic, medium‐large seeded, runner‐type peanut ( Arachis hypogaea L. subsp. hypogaea var. hypogaea ) cultivar resistant to Tomato spotted wilt virus and leaf scorch and released by the Georgia Agricultural Experiment Stations in 2018. It was developed at the University of Georgia, Coastal Plain Experiment Station, Tifton, GA. Georgia‐18RU originated from a cross made between two sister lines of 'Georgia‐10T' and 'Georgia‐09B'. Pedigree selection was practiced within the early‐segregating generations. Performance testing began in the F4:6 generation with the advanced pure‐line selection GA 122540, which was the experimental designation of Georgia‐18RU. During 5 yr (2013–2017) averaged over 34 multilocation tests in Georgia, Georgia‐18RU had significantly higher total sound mature kernel (TSMK) grade and lower seed weight compared with 'Georgia‐06G'. Georgia‐18RU is most similar to Georgia‐06G and should be considered another excellent normal‐oleic cultivar option in the US peanut production area.
