Abstract

Abstract : NDOLA‐01 (Reg. no. GP‐9, PI 689767) is a conventional spring‐type canola ( Brassica napus L.) developed at North Dakota State University (NDSU). NDOLA‐01 was tested as experimental line NDSU‐14WC17 at 22 locations‐years in wide‐area canola breeding nurseries from 2013 to 2017, and within five location‐years of testing in North Dakota Canola Variety Trials from 2015 to 2017. NDOLA‐01 is the first conventional, open‐pollinated canola has high seed yield potential and disease tolerance. NDOLA‐01 had similar seed yield and oil content to that of commercial hybrid checks in NDSU canola breeding trials. In addition, NDOLA‐01 had higher seed yield than commercial cultivars and hybrids of Cibus and Mycogen and higher oil contents than commercial cultivars of Cibus in North Dakota Canola Variety Trials. It is moderately resistant to pathogenicity group 4 of blackleg and moderately susceptible to Sclerotinia stem rot disease. NDOLA‐01 plants have an average height of 110 cm, flower within 46 d from planting, reach maturity within 89 d from planting, and are resistant to lodging, with a score of 1.5 of 5.
