- Abstract: Shear modulus and electrical resistivity of copper graphite composites with different volume concentration of randomly oriented transversely-isotropic graphite flakes have been measured using torsion mechanical testing machine and four probe method, respectively. Shear modulus and electrical conductivity of the composite decrease with growing volume fraction of carbon particles. The rates of change of the two quantities are quite similar that allows the explicit link between them. The experimental measurements are compared with the theoretical results derived by Sevostianov and Kachanov (2002, 2008) and the agreement is generally good. The difference between the two is mostly due to the shape of the inhomogeneities which are assumed to be perfectly spheroidal in the micromechanical model.
