- Research suggests that psychological interventions are necessary and effective for patients in acute mental health settings. Little research has been generated on the feasibility of brief psychological interventions for women in psychiatric intensive care units (PICU). This pilot evaluation aimed to gauge patients' perceptions of a dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)-informed intervention, delivered in a 30-minute daily group, in the context of a female PICU; Overall, patients endorsed session content as 'worthwhile' and the sessionlength as 'just right'. The DBT-informed skills were deemed 'helpful for the future'. These preliminary findings support the continuation of this novel, PICU-tailored intervention. Clinical and research implications are discussed.
