- Abstract: Seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) with pressure exchanger (PX) been used widely on the earth for desalination to produce fresh water. Mixing due to exchange flow is considered to be dominant. In this paper, full-depth exchange flow is numerically simulated by Palabos, an open source program based on Lattice Boltzmann Method. GIF pictures and data produced by Palabos are analyzed to figure out how exchange flow processes. The velocity of the current front U=0.45 √(g(1 − γ)H is obtained from analysis. The results from the simulation are consistent with the Benjamin's energy-conserving theory very well for full-depth exchange flow.
