- Abstract: Creep behavior of coated superalloys is important since critical metallic parts operating at high temperature are functionalized to resist oxidation, corrosion, etc. Unfortunately, there is a lack of information about creep data of coated superalloys. Polycrystalline and single crystal Ni-based superalloys coated with Ta-containing NiCoCrAlY by high-velocity oxy-fuel spraying were creep tested at 980 °C under 150 MPa constant load in air to address the influence of substrate thickness on their creep strength behavior. The contribution of the coating to both superalloys creep resistance was found to be negligible. However, a superalloy thickness debit effect was observed and is discussed.
