- Summary: Airway management for laryngeal carcinoma with glottic stenosis is challenging. Tracheal intubation may not be achievable and a variety of open airway techniques have been described with low or high frequency jet ventilation, as well as intermittent apnoea to allow an unrestricted view for surgery to proceed. Tracheostomy is another option [1]. We report successful use of apnoeic mass movement oxygenation by insufflation of oxygen via a narrow‐bore cricothyroid cannula, with intravenous general anaesthesia for laser reduction of laryngeal tumours in two adult patients. The technique described provides a completely open, still, operative field and avoids the need for tracheostomy.
