- Summary: The choice of anaesthetic technique poses a challenge in high‐risk patients requiring emergency surgery. The erector spinae plane (ESP) block is a novel interfascial plane block, described for providing thoracic and visceral abdominal analgesia. We report the use of bilateral ultrasound‐guided ESP blocks to achieve effective anaesthesia and analgeisa in a patient with multiple comorbidities and chronic pain undergoing emergency bilateral percutaneous nephrostomy.
