- Abstract: A single layer reactive screen, made of printed elements, is introduced to increase the bandwidth of a patch array antenna. It is found that by decreasing the periodicity of the printed elements on the screen, the return loss bandwidth can be improved significantly compared with a two‐layered stacked patch counterpart. Simulated results are shown, and the bandwidth improvements are explained in terms of a standard stub‐matching procedure that is normally exercised in microwave circuits.
