- Abstract : DOI: 10.1002/pmic.201900265 Activation of G signaling via the heterotrimeric G protein complex occurs by G protein coupled receptors in animals but plants lack GPCRs. In article number 1900265, using the genetic model Arabidopsis, Haiyan Jia et al. test the hypothesis that instead of GPCRs, plants use receptor‐like kinases to control the activation state of the G subunit of this complex (AtGPA1). Depicted here is an Arabidopsis plant intertwined with the structure of AtGPA1 with phosphorylated residues highlighted. Red residues are conserved in animals and green residues are unique to plants.
