Abstract

Abstract : Conversion of light energy into mechanical motion that can do real‐world work has attracted great attention. In their Minireview article on page 5611 ff., Z. Zhang, S. Ma et al. outline recent progress on photomechanical organic crystals for application as smart materials. In addition, current reported photomechanical organic crystals have been classified by their photoactive species, and current challenges and potential chances in this field have been noted.
