Abstract

Abstract : Copper is a raw material for the Japanese 10 Yen coin, on which the Byodo‐in Temple is shown, and an efficient catalyst for the boraformylation and silaformylation reactions of allenes with formate esters that are reported by T. Fujihara, Y. Tsuji, and co‐workers in their Communication on page 1539 ff. With B2 (pin)2 or PhMe2 Si−B(pin), these reactions afford the corresponding β‐boryl or β‐silyl β, γ‐unsaturated aldehydes in good to high yields and with excellent regioselectivity.
