Abstract

Abstract : The article introduces five essays contained in the journal that were written in response to the 'From Theatre to Screen—and Back Again!' conference held in February 2014 at De Montfort University, Leicester. The essays are situated in the context of the wider interests raised by the conference. By considering the content and approach taken by each contributor, the connections and points of difference between the essays are revealed. Three papers focus upon screen versions of stage productions and the case studies chosen are located across the United Kingdom, America and Australia. The other two papers grant proportionally greater space to adaptations on stage in American and European contexts.
