- Abstract: The theoretical background for electrohydrodynamic (EHD) drying, linking mass transfer to electric field strength and charge transfer, has been proposed. The relationship between drying rate, electric current and electric field strength has been validated on the set of experimental data for multi-pin electrodes. The modified set of Luikov's equations for heat and mass transfer, accounting for additional effect of electrodiffusion, has been introduced. The challenges and opportunities for industrial scaling of EHD dryers are briefly discussed.
