- Abstract: The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the metabolizable energy (ME)-releasing efficacy of a 6-phytase, Natuphos E, on pig performance compared with fat in corn soy diets. A total of 1750 weaned Duroc barrows and gilts were randomly allocated into 7 dietary treatments with 10 replicates and 25 pigs per replicate. Dietary treatments consisted of positive control (PC) with all nutrients meeting or exceeding Duroc nutrition manual; NC1=PC- 0.17% Calcium (Ca), - 0.15% available phosphorus (aP), -80 Kcal/kg, NC2=PC- 0.17% Ca, - 0.15% aP, -100 Kcal/kg and NC3=PC- 0.17% Ca, - 0.15% aP, -120 Kcal/kg and phytase treatments were NC1 + 1000, NC2 + 1750 and NC3 + 2500 FTU/kg. Feed intake, body weight, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were recorded at pre-starter, starter, grower and finisher. Data were subjected to ANOVA. For the results, NC1, NC2 and NC3 decreased (P<0.05) body weight and increased (P<0.05) FCR compared to the PC. NC1 + 1000, NC2 + 1750 and NC3 + 2500 FTU/kg Natuphos E phytase, increased (P<0.05) the body weight and body weight gain, and decreased (P<0.05) the feed intake and FCR compared to NC1, NC2 and NC3, respectively. Body weight, body weight gain, feed intake and FCR of NC1 + 1000 FTU/kg, NC2 + 1750 and NC3 + 2500 FTU/kg was equal (P<0.05) to PC. In conclusion, 1000, 1750 and 2500 FTU/kg phytase, Natuphos E, met or exceeded (P<0.05) the performance of 80, 100 and 120 Kcal/kg. 2500 FTU/kg Natuphos E phytase could compensate, performance wise,Abstract: The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the metabolizable energy (ME)-releasing efficacy of a 6-phytase, Natuphos E, on pig performance compared with fat in corn soy diets.
