- Abstract: Flax seed cake (FSC) is a kind of feed resource in animal husbandry, which was rich in n-3 PUFA. However, high cyanogenetic glycosides content limited the largely use in feed. In this study, we investigated the changes of nutrient contents in FSC with or without fermentation by Aspergillus niger and Candida utilis, and compared the growth performance and serum lipid parameters from 1 to 21 days of age with fermented and unfermented FSC supplementation. A total of 420 one-day-old male ducklings were randomly assigned to 7 diets with 6 replicate cages (10 ducklings per each). The control group was fed basal diet, and treatment groups were fed diets containing unfermented FSC (UFSC) or fermented FSC (FFSC) at 50, 100, or 150 mg/kg, respectively. The experiment lasted for 21 days. After fermentation, the HCN content was significantly decreased 73.23%, and CF content was decreased 34.31%. The CP, EE and Ca contents were extremely increased. The ADFI of 50 and 150 mg/kg UFSC groups were significantly decreased compared with control group, and ADFI of 150 mg/kg FFSC group was decreased significantly compared with control and 50 mg/kg groups. Final body weight (FBW) and ADG were significantly decreased at 150 mg/kg group of UFSC compared with other UFSC groups, while there were no significant decrease of ADG and FBW among FFSC groups. UFSC significantly decreased serum TC compared with control group, but has no significant effect on TG, HDL and LDL.
