- Highlights: Push out tests of 9 steel reinforced recycled aggregate concrete specimens. Failure process, failure mode and mechanical mechanism of bond behavior. Effect of different factors on the bond behavior between RAC and the shaped steel. The simple, practical and accurate method considering the bond behavior in FEA. The fine and accurate 3D FE models and parametric study based on ABAQUS. Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to study the bond behavior of steel reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (SRRAC) structure, and to solve the problem that the bond behavior cannot be correctly and accurately considered in finite element analysis (FEA) due to the difficulty in modeling the interface. Firstly, push out tests were carried out on 9 SRRAC specimens. Based on the test results, the bond behavior between RAC and the shaped steel was discussed, including the failure process, the failure model, the difference between RAC and normal concrete, the difference between the contribution of the flange and the web to the bond, the variation of bond behavior with the distance from the loading end, the influence of various factors on the bond strength, etc. Secondly, the three-dimensional finite element models (FEM) of 9 specimens were built by ABAQUS, and the simple and universal method for considering the bond behavior in the FEM was proposed. The results of FEA are in good agreement with the experimental results in terms of the P-S curves of the loading and free end, the stressHighlights: Push out tests of 9 steel reinforced recycled aggregate concrete specimens. The results of FEA are in good agreement with the experimental results in terms of the P-S curves of the loading and free end, the stress distribution of the shaped steel and the failure mode. The modeling method proposed can be used for other composite structure due to its simplicity and accuracy. … (more)
