- Abstract: The ternary solid solution 0.6BiFeO3 -0.1LaFeO3 -0.3PbFeO2.5 (0.6BFO-0.1LFO-0.3PFO) was studied to determine the origin of spontaneous magnetization and electrical properties for the development of single-phase ferroelectromagnetics. Rietveld refinement of the X-ray diffraction pattern of 0.6BFO-0.1LFO-0.3PFO ceramics reveals a pseudocubic structure. Investigation of the leakage current density revealed different conduction mechanisms at different electric fields. Dielectric loss as a function of frequency (log δ - f plot) was affected by the grain size and grain boundaries. The coexistence of ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity was observed; a pulsed remanent polarization of 0.4 μC/cm 2, remanent magnetization of 0.5 emu/g, and saturation magnetization of 3 emu/g were determined for 0.6BFO-0.1LFO-0.3PFO. A large magnetoelectric coupling effect of 120 mV/cm·Oe was observed.
