- Abstract : This article deals with discharge characteristics and mechanisms in the medium vacuum range of 1–1000 Pa in a vacuum interrupter (VI), which consists of complex electrode configuration with an electrode of floating potential and an insulator. Gas leakage was simulated by enclosing air or SF6 gas. From a measured discharge current and a shield potential, the discharge characteristics inside the VI at each pressure were discussed. © 2019 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
