Abstract

Abstract: The temperature dependences of the internal friction Q − 1 and the Young's modulus E for ferroelectric ceramics Ba0.8 Sr0.2 TiO3 both without dopant and doped with La were measured at hertz frequencies. A decrease in the Q − 1 maximum and an increase in E value compared with the initial undoped sample are observed in the La-doped sample near the phase transition temperature. This behavior is associated with the influence of the electronic subsystem, creating a screening field, which changes the interaction of the domain walls with charged point defects that inhibit the movement of the domain walls. The increase in the height of the Q −1 peak with the heating rate revealed in the experiment is explained in the framework of the fluctuation model of low-frequency internal friction.
