Abstract

Abstract : Abstract: 11 C-acetate PET can quantify myocardial blood flow and oxidative metabolism ( k mono ) with a single imaging study. We present a 63-year-old man with myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries due to vasospasm, who underwent 11 C-acetate PET after antispastic medication. By quantifying myocardial blood flow and k mono, 11 C-acetate PET could detect the initial ischemic insult by vasospasm and sufficient amount of remaining viable myocardium, while excluding significant inducible ischemia. We suggest that 11 C-acetate PET can be a clinically valuable tool for assessing the pathophysiology of myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries.
