Abstract

Abstract: A promising approach for the modeling of fixed‐bed reactors is the quasi‐homogeneous, two‐dimensional Λ r ( r )‐model according to Winterberg. However, it has not yet been completely proved because of current unreliable experimental database for validation. This paper discusses the evaluation by means of fiber‐optic measurements of temperature profiles (resolution: 2.56 mm) in a tubular reactor with technically relevant diameter. The packing inside of the reactor consists of spherical, porous particles whose physical properties are not explicit. For the purpose of modeling, representative averages are determined.
