Abstract

Highlights: A review was undertaken of how illicit Fentanyl use in Australia may develop. Shortages in heroin availability correlate with increases in synthetic opioid use. Seizures of illicit Fentanyl have increased significantly over the last 2 years. Limited work has been reported profiling clandestine produced Fentanyl. The Siegfried method is the most common clandestine synthesis route to date.
