Abstract

Abstract: The Water, Energy and Food Nexus (WEF Nexus) is charged with the mission of applying a holistic approach to handle water, food and energy skyrocketing demand caused by population growth while safeguarding the intertwined aspects of collective WEF security and equity. The need for WEF Nexus role recasting and implementing a new economic platform is based on two realistic premises. First, as this mission is based on technical changes and financing procured by non-state actors, WEF will have to become an actor for reasons of empowerment equitability. Second, instead of been trapped in the dilemma of either continuing to operate in a business-as-usual manner using the Dasgupta-Heal-Solow-Stiglitz (DHSS) economic model, which leads to a catastrophe, or its opposite, the inapplicable Daly and Georgescu-Roegen entropic natural capital model and its hybrids, a proprietary customized modified Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) platform must be employed. The reassessment in this paper not only establishes the existence of the WEF Nexus approach in a more concrete way but includes proposals both for holistic and increased internal structure and for a set of rules which, by recasting the current role into that of an actor with an CGE platform, promote the increased success of any solutions which will be attempted. Highlights: A detailed exposition of the restructuring the WEFN. Constituent parts of the WEFN conventional economic policies analyzed. WEFN is recast as an Actor with tailored characteristics. WEFN is endowed with a new CGE and I/O economic policy platform. WEFN adapts knowledge based Management.
