Abstract

Abstract : DOI:10.1002/jssc.201900283 The cover picture shows the use of comprehensive two‐dimensional liquid chromatography (2D‐LC) to study synthetic copolymer dispersants which are used in many consumer products such as paints, detergents and cosmetics. In copolymer synthesis, the different monomers have many ways to connect, resulting in numerous polymer chains with different molar mass and composition. Poor monomer incorporation can lead to formation of undesirable homopolymers. 2D‐LC offers a quick and intuitive way to characterize copolymer composition heterogeneity. By combining size exclusion and reversed‐phase separation, molecular weight and composition information can be directly visualized.
