- Abstract: A single-pedal regenerative braking control strategy (RBCS) of accelerator pedal for electric vehicles based on adaptive fuzzy control algorithm is proposed to fully exploit regenerative braking potential of motors, improve energy recovery and lighten driving burden. Driving intents can be recognized according to the pedal operations. Then an adaptive fuzzy controller is built to make the motor provide proper regenerative braking torque to meet the braking requirements of drivers all the time. Model simulations are conducted in this paper. Simulation results illustrate that the simulation velocities under the control of adaptive single-pedal RBCS can follow several standard test cycles (including US06 and LA92) very well. The braking energy can be recovered effectively in these test cycles. Specifically, the recovery rate in LA92 is up to 65.90%, resulting with a much better energy-saving effect. Moreover, the time ratio of mechanical braking is only 15.53% at best. The adaptive single-pedal RBCS is verified to make driving more simple and intelligent.
