- Abstract: This study aims to investigate the effect of double pulse current in improving the mechanical performance of resistance spot welded joints of AISI 409M ferritic stainless steel. Mechanical performance was evaluated in terms of load bearing capacity and energy absorption capacity of the joint. Samples were resistance spot welded with different values of double pulse current and the corresponding values of failure peak load and failure energy were measured and compared with that of samples welded with single pulse current alone. It was found that the mechanical performance of spot welded joint of AISI 409M steel could be improved by the application of double pulse current.
